Wearable BSXinsight Senses Lactate Levels Optically

Wearable BSXinsight Senses Lactate Levels Optically
Mar-31-15
Developed for serious athletics as well as training teams, the calf-worn sensor from BSXinsight measures lactic acid levels non-invasively by scanning the blood vessels.

Lactic acid levels are the most accurate way to measure workout performance, but determining the levels typically requires a blood test and expensive equipment. The flexible, wearable sensor from BSXinsight eschews needles in favor of optical sensor technology that allows the device to read the oxygenation levels in the blood and use those results to determine the level of lactic acid. The device can also sync with a smartphone and ANT+ heart rate monitors to deliver a more detailed workout analysis.
