XylemDx Prints Customized Diagnostic Test Strips

XylemDx Prints Customized Diagnostic Test Strips
Aug-02-15
The XylemDx concept from Cambridge Consultants would allow physicians to use inkjet printers to create individualized diagnostic test strips on demand.

Conceived to help make POC (point-of-care) diagnostics more accessible, the XylemDx concept would allow clinicians to print any one of an array of diagnostic tests on a single piece of paper using the same machine. After the paper is printed with the desired test modules (such as thermal, fluidic or biological reagent), it can be folded into the conventional test cartridge shape. The tests can also be configured to be read by various devices—from a complex smartphone-based reader to a simpler USB device.

Although still in the concept stage, the XylemDx idea is based on existing technology.
