Methods and Compositions Relating to Modulation of Cartilage Growth by Modulatio
Summary Dr. Laurie Glimcher at Harvard University has recently discovered that the transcription factor NFATp plays a critical role in regulating the formation of cartilage. Mice that lack NFATp display uncontrolled proliferation of cartilage over time as well as the capacity to regenerate cartilage after surgical injury. Once destroyed, articular cartilage cannot normally regenerate, leading to osteoarthitis.
