Device forTranstracheal Insufflation in Treating Obstructive Sleep Apnea

A novel ventilatory support system which controls the flow of breathing gas to a patient based upon the physiological need of the patient is disclosed. Gas pressure in the trachea of the patient is monitored to control breathing gas delivery to the patient. The breathing gas flow rate (Vin) to the patient is reduced or terminated when an established tracheal gas pressure limit (Plim) is reached. Flow is resumed after a predetermined delay period or upon sensing of an appropriate tracheal gas pressure
