Optimized MRI Strip Detectors

Strip MRI detectors offer the advantages over conventional detectors of minimal coupling and high-frequency operation as phased arrays. This invention is a method to optimize the SNR for MRI strip detector designs. The rules were determined by numerical electromagnetic Method of Moment (Mom) analysis and have been validated by fabrication and testing of model detectors. Description (Set) Proposed Use (Set) The purpose of the invention is to detect MRI signals with optimum SNR to convey to an MRI scanner, and to do so with minimal mutual coupling between elements in those embodiments that employ multiple elements. Because of the depth sensitivity of the optimized designs, a range of MRI strip detectors for particular application to various organ/anatomical areas are being developed.
