Low wage workers in the US working 2-3 jobs, yet scarcely able to pay the bills |
 |
|
Many people with low paying, unskilled jobs are working 2 or 3 jobs, just to feed their families and keep the lights on. They are deprived of sleep. They have little or no personal time for doing the laundry or basic hygiene, let alone any time to better themselves through education or seeking better jobs. Interacting with their family? No time for that either. Leisure activities? Forget it. The wages are not enough to live on, yet they are earning too much to be eligible for government assistance. The companies that pay these low wages are run by CEOs making millions of dollars a year. They seem to be disconnected from the needs of the people in their employ, seeing them as merely commodities.
