Refuse/Rubbish Bin Fire Prevention |
 |
|
Rubish Bin fires are a problem across the globe and especially in the UK.
One in six call-outs for fire crews is a wheelie bin fire.
Recent research shows that it takes just 70 seconds for flames from a blazing wheelie bin to destroy an adjacent front door, blocking off a main escape route.
People have died as a result of these fires.
The annual cost of these fires and the destruction they cause runs into million sof pounds.
The majority of fires are set in the same type of refuse bin. When a fire is set the bin melts and the rubbish spils out still ablaze causing a serious danger.
We are looking for a solution to this problem. Either by redesigning the refuse bins, designing a new process for collection of refuse or any other means that can be suggested.
The goal of this project is to stop the fires starting or if this is not possible stop the fire spreading.
