Computer Monitor for Visually Impaired

Post a Problem
A breakthrough invention needed for helping visually impaired to touch the monitor and sense the content. Even if we design a primitive alpha-numeric device that emulates etched characters on it, individual can touch it, sense it and read it without any braille script.

Two layers of jelly (this is material, one needs to find) with arrays of electrodes are placed in sealed polymer bags. Whenever the set of electrodes emits signals from the computing device, jelly particles charge electrostatically and concentrated causing polymer to bulge and form the shape of alphanumeric. Upon discharge, the jelly particles disperse making the display flat. In a similar way, data can be inputted using a stylus. Second part is more easier since there are lot of hand writing recognition techniques available with touch sensitive hardware grids.

Having this technology would help many developing nations to find a way for its visually impaired citizens to earn money by providing jobs in data entry. Also it helps visually impaired people to read books and sense diagrams easily.

It would probably be more cost effective to create a finger attachment, that has a small camera and an array of small servos. Just a thought.
