sponsors needed for r&d

some ideas are too good to let go, but need not make any money in the end. in this case i feel venture capital is not a very reasonable option, there is not yet a product or proof of concept or even a clear idea about who the customer is.

this happens in medicine when some new technique is never seriously evaluated and improved upon.

i would like to trade inside expertise and prestige against sponsorship. but... how?
