Facillities for physically challenged members of society

Post a Problem
A half open/half closed door presents a major problem to a blind person. Opening a door from the inside or handling a door fitted with a door closer is a problem that people in wheel chairs encounter. Try sitting in a wheel chair and washing your hands at a standard washbasin. Or check in at the airport or a hotel. Stay away from the stairs.
Some of these problems have a simple solution but some companies need manufacture them free as a social responsabilty service. A example of this is a computer program that reads everything on the monitor screen aloud for blind persons. Brilliant, except the program is expensive and most blind people cannot afford to buy it.
The half open door problem could be a camel hump (cam) with a spring loaded wheel travelling accross it. The door can thus only be fully open or closed.
How about high lift wheel chairs? Outriggers would be needed to stabilise the wheel chair as the person is lifted to standing height!
Translating text to a braille reading tablet. From the it side text on the screen could be converted back to ASCII character codes and these codes sent to the braille reader. The mechanics for this reader device present some challenges.
Society needs to contribute to making it easier for others to be independant members of society able to contribute thier bit to making a better world for everyone
