Comment on:The problem of being a good significant Problem solverI think there are a couple of important issues bound up in your description. 1. The tendency for people with expertise in a particular field to be constrained in their thinking by custom and practice. 2. The difficulty of access to problems in a field for people without expertise in that field. (And related to this, the need for those outsiders to be able to test/validate their suggestions or solutions against technical expertise or experience. One possible contribution to this could be problem solving groups with a mixture of members: some with expertise/experience in the relevant field (and possibly the particular problem) and some from outside the field to contribute fresh ideas and/or unconstrained thinking.
