Comment on:Vulgar LyricsLyrics are no more what they used to be some years ago..they have become what some people call to some extent as vulgar or derogatory..But at the end teens and youngsters end up humming these tunes only!!I don't feel the need that the government should be involved in this..it is upto the kids as to how far they take up these lyrics seriously..it just depends from person to person as to how they take it..But,adding these words just to be hIP is unecessary thats what i feel Posted by uttara shankar on August 25, 2011 I don't believe this is an issue the government should be involved in beyond the warning label. Maybe a program designed to teach people how to be parents would be more effective. If a child is raised in a home where the parents are involved and can discuss why certain things are not appropriate, then lyrics have little effect. If a child has no parental direction, it may seem lyrics caused them to behave poorly but the problem is much deeper. A well adjusted child with good parents hearing a vulgar rap song will not turn into a rapist but someone prone to rape will be drawn to those types of songs and the authorities will create a false causal relationship after the fact. Plus, as the previous poster said, what's vulgar? A deeply religious person may find songs about high school love vulgar. If the government tried to protect everyone from being offended we end up with Iran's' Moral Police. Good parenting solves 95% of issues. Posted by JD Davison on March 29, 2011 It is difficult to solve this problem without knowing what is to be solved. First of all, government or any authority should define vulgarity of words in the general public, that, considering that many songs have lyrics that have vulgar words in it but still portray a nationalist message in general. What are the vulgar words? To what extent is a word vulgar? Is this word or lyric acceptable to the general public, or is it just a minority pushing the non-vulgarity of this lyric. You see, saying "vulgar lyrics" seems too broad. Narrow it up a little. Posted by Heli Dmitry on May 17, 2010 Add your CommentIf you are already a Member please login first. Fields marked * are mandatory. |
