Local Monitoring Mechanism

Human Rights Watch recommends the establishment of a "local monitoring mechanism" to oversee the diamond trade in Zimbabwe into the forseeable future. Such a mechanism would incorporate local non-governmental organizations, as well as leaders of the Marange community. The mechanism would be tasked with evaluating and ensuring government compliance with international Kimberley norms.
