International Child Sex Tourism

Fighting Otherization

Prevention of child sex tourism lies in part in educating the citizens of industrialized nations about the humanity of those living in developing states. Too often citizens of the global North ("first world") see those in the South ("third world") as "other" -- something less than human or at the very least, different. Thus, the fight against otherization must begin at an early age, with classroom lessons that teach Northern youngsters that Southerners are people too -- not objects to be bought and sold.
