The deeper issue here is that Science has called into question many claims that Holy religious texts make and thus the infallibility of those texts has challenged, which opens a whole can of worms. It is time for religious groups to reevaluate their identities in the face of those questions. Religions such as Christianity, Judaism, and Islam do not lose value in the face of criticism; the basic values valued by many religions are the same values the religious-less value. However, religion will become outdated if it fails to recognize that it is driving members away by ignoring issues/questions important to them.

The ability to criticize and yet still believe is a very real possibility as it happens daily in many Religious Studies departments at universities around the world. This same ability needs to be taught to all religious practitioners, otherwise a very real exodus of members who are coming of age right now will see no use for it because Religion has not responded to Science.
