Innovative Solution for:

Locust epidemic in the near future

Use of Pheromone and Genitically engineered locusts

The use of sex pheromone baits for insects is well known. The same can be applied for the locusts with a difference. Genitically engineered locusts can be raised which are of character of the following

1) Insertion of a terminator gene like type in locust genome thereby stopping the moulting and formation of embryo itself if possible by removal of key factors synthesizing genetic codes.

2) Increased production of sex pheromone at optimum levels there by succesfully averting locusts from their normal pairs .

These two situations can be imbibed in a ecology model and the effects of this modification can be studied thoroughly.
