Adjust Income Expectations

The easiest solution is for the persons claiming to be interested in charity work to adjust their expectations for income on a global scale. The average new home in Britain is 800 sq ft vs. 2400 in the U.S. The average person in the world doesn't even own a bicycle, let alone two cars. Then cut the electronics, clothing and entertainment personal budgets. The frugal non-profit workers would then see that they are wealthy from a global perspective - in the top 1% of income.
