New technology can make a difference
I agree with Wolfgang. Technology can make a difference. I'm a product developer, for more than 20 years now. For the past five years I have developed a new technology for healthy food preparation called Rapid Air technology. Besides the technology a series of new product concepts were created based on Rapid Air technology. It enables frying without oil in a short time and very good taste. It can be used for many food products including typical fast food.
The biggest challenge for new technology is to get it to the market on a scale that makes a difference. It has to be accepted by a big audience to make it a succes. Therefore the marketing is equaly important as the quality of the technology. For a large scale you need big companies. On the last IFA in Berlin Philips introduced the Airfryer based of this technology. It's hard to stay objective but I say it anyway: It's much better than anything on the market claiming to do something similar.
Despite the long preparation times of the Actifry from Tefal (or T'fal) they have managed to sell a lot of these appliances in Europe. It's on the market for three years now. It means the market is ready for this type of appliances.
An Airfryer for the professional market is currently under development. I'm sure it will have a possitive impact on solving a part of this problem.
