Train low-level displaced workers to do jobs machines can’t do: jobs such as—counseling people to better cope with and enjoy life, programming machines to implement solutions, teaching, inventing products and services to meet the needs of the ever changing world, assisting people in pain, making art, music, creative writing, etc. You may say, “Low-level workers aren’t capable of these jobs.” Actually, many low-wage workers do simplistic work because they lack access to meaningful work. Training programs can be designed not simply to teach skills, but to instill self-esteem, and attitudes suitable for jobs requiring mental acuity. Low-wage workers are often smart, creative people whose upbringing happened to be non-conducive to achievement.
