Bed Bugs are close to epidemic proprotions in major US cities

It’s a bugs life

It’s a bugs life

Bed bugs live off sucking a person’s blood and, according to literature locate you via the carbon dioxide from your breath. I am rather doubtful of the latter, as otherwise they would attempt to feed around your mouth and this is where the red spots would appear (but I assume people don’t have spots around their mouths. My assumption therefore is that they sense the heat and perspiration from one’s body.

My solution would be to design a trap that gives off human odor and heat, placed in the bed in the day time, the bugs would be attracted and somehow be trapped, i.e. sticky tape, electrocuted as in a fly grill.

Secondly, the culture of bed making should be changed. Making the bed retains moisture…the condition that these little bugs enjoy, so pull back the covers on a morning and hang them over a rack at the bottom of the bed.

Hope that helps
