Rational thought has been the driving force behind much of human achievement during the past few centuries. The development of the tools and comforts of modern society has been the result of rational endeavors. However, when one seeks understanding that lies outside the physical world, one moves beyond the scope of currently accepted rational thought. For centuries, individuals have been persecuted and ridiculed when they have sought to expand rational thought to encompass new ideas. Occult science, lying outside the boundaries of accepted rationality, is subject to the same ridicule and persecution. Due to the abuses and excesses exhibited by many “occultists,” occult science is often perceived as being somehow inherently evil. However, current rational thought, upon reflection, may be perceived to have produced similar or greater evils (nuclear, chemical and biological weapons, ozone-depleting pollutants, urban/suburban sprawl, etc.). It is possible that, as rational thought burns laser-like through the twenty-first century, expansion into alternative forms of thought is essential for the survival of humanity and of the planet. Occult science may represent the true final frontier for human-kind, and should be pursued as a complement to, not a contradiction of, traditional scientific endeavors.
