Show Business for the disabled people.
To society and especially for a world that runs behind money and success, the problems do not affect us directly, simply do not see them or does not interest us. As the problem of accessibility for disabled and other equivalents are of a minority, the society will respond to a minimum, simply to appease his own conscience or saying that is doing something. The problem is this: How the problem of a minority becomes a problem of all?. Certainly there are many pathways, some suggested at previous proposals.
I suggest the following:
Select a special day (once a year), place a universe of public figures, film and TV artists, politicians, opinion leaders, sports stars, singers, mayors, etc.. "Tout le monde." Ideally with a good media coverage to face a sort of marathon on the central area of one or more major cities, assuming conditions of the disabled, in wheelchairs, with the eyes or ears covered, with crutches, etc.. The route must be carefully designed to go over important and well known places of the city where they have to save the difficulties usually faced by a disabled person (public buildings, parks, shopping centers, transportation systems, Avenues, etc.. We all know where) no arrests or special traffic measures to facilitate their travel. The dissemination of these experiences, inviting the public to try the challenge, I think (at least until next year) would be an effective way to raise public awareness on the subject.
If public pressure is not enough great, the authority does not feel the pressure to really solve the problem.
The above proposal might lead some security problems for those persons, and if is not possible to solve it, it must be necessary to opt for a second alternative:
The same personalities, individually or in small groups, properly characterized by the route with cameras to record everything. A weekly high audience TV program, could contain a short section that shows these experiences and their difficulties. Would have the advantage that in a medium term, public might assume that any disabled person being filmed, and therefore his behavior towards them should be improved. We must find the appropriate program and the presenter.
Both options, fits between entertainment programs and Reality Show, that has been concentrating the largest audiences.
