Metaklett a new type of steel Velcro may solve the problem of rust. One can use Metaklett, and coat the outside if necessary (to prevent the steel areas prone to rust) and use it to hold devices together. If this device is not strong enough, maybe R&D departments can look into developing a similar but stronger type of Velcro.
