Fast food is not going to go away anytime soon. It is a huge time saver, it is cheap, accessible and easy. It will also kill you. So will smoking, but that hasn't gone away either.

If you want people to make healthy choices, you have to make it the new fast food. It has to be cheap, accessible and easy. We need more prepackaged options of healthy choices. It has to be marketed. Role models need to promote. Teachers, doctors, employers and parents need to teach (assuming they are educated in matters if nutrition). Just like we are bombarded with fast food, we need to be bombarded with healthy food.

We have an entire generation of people that do not know how to cook. Cooking is for the elite and means creating complex concoctions with ingredients we can't spell let alone find our local grocery store. We need to promote simple healthy recipes that regular time constrained people can make no matter where they live. We need educational programs in every community. See Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution which is a tremendous example of just that.

For now, I will do my part by continuing encouraging and educating on healthy eating and activity within my own home. It we would all do that, it could be one of the most effective ways of raising a healthy generation with all the health and energy to change the world.
