Known Solution for:

Keeping up with scientifc advances in the literature

Literature reviews are here to help

An old solution to keeping up with scientific advances is to read literature reviews. In biomedical research and other fields in general, specialists on one topic will spend months reviewing the current literature and write a summary, or review, of the most important advances, and often including comments on what remains to be solved. I guess that a new solution for this problem would be to write a software or develop a search engine that would digest the bulk of the literature. It would have to discriminate based on the source (journal, website), quality of information (impact factor of the journal), and the context. Any other ideas anybody?
