Encrypt the complete session by routing though VPN Tunnel

There are various methods to insure your private information isn’t attacked because of insecure cookies, but the only way to have full protection is to encrypt the complete session while on-line. If the service provider doesn’t offer this kind of protection, you can protect yourself by routing all your traffic though a VPN tunnel.

There are many variables regarding ability to route though a VPN tunnel; for full details please view the link provided below. The following method works on Windows XP Pro SP2.

Create a VPN 'connectoid' using the standard Windows Network Connections New Connection Wizard:

1.Select 'New Connection wizard', 'Next'
2.Select 'Connect to the network at my workplace'
3.Select 'Virtual Private Network connection'
4.Type a name for the connection eg 'PPTP VPN to home with browsing'
5.Select 'Do not dial the initial connection'
6.Enter the public [static] IP for your home VPN router [or use a Dynamic DNS registered domain name.]
7.Finish the wizard, which opens the connection dialog.
8.Select 'Properties', Select 'Networking'
9.Highlight 'Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)', select 'Properties'
10.Select 'Advanced'
11. Note that 'Use default gateway on remote network' is already checked. This is the setting you need to browse via VPN without local restrictions.
