Know how to spot counterfeit drugs

Pharmacists and doctors can familiarize themselves with drugs likely to be counterfeited, and learn to identify these drugs. Keep checking for FDA updates on their counterfeiting website. Both professionals and patients should watch for: Unexplainable or worsening medical condition or side effect, a drug that looks or tastes different or is packaged differently, or tablets that are chipped or cracked. If a counterfeit is suspected, contact the FDA immediately. The manufacturer should also be contacted.
