There is a new technology that can turn old tires into plastic and rubber composites. This material can be used in various engineering applications. One example is a composite that uses 50% crumbed rubber. It can be used in place of PVC (poly vinyl chloride) plastics. This composite made from tires costs less than PVC, so there is an economic as well as an environmental advantage.
