Good Habits for Good Sleep

Good sleep, like many healthy (or unhealthy) activities, is a habit. One way of insuring proper rest is to follow fairly well-established routines that lead to a regular sleeping pattern. If an individual who normally goes to bed at ten o’clock and wakes up at six o’clock stays up until midnight or later for a night or two, it is likely that his or her sleep patterns will be disrupted to some extent, leading to poorer sleep. Other habits, such as limiting drinking and eating near bedtime, avoiding strenuous exercise near bedtime, and maintaining an environment suitable for sleep will go a long way toward eliminating insomnia.
