Injustice in Healthcare

Decrease Legal Expenses Incurred by Health Care Practitioners

When injustice is spoken of in contemporary society, it often has to do with the unavailability of resources universally due to the financial impact burden imposed by those resources. This has been the case with healthcare, and has been the rationale for the argument in favor of nationalizing health insurance. However, it may be beneficial to analyze the non-clinical and non-research costs associated with health care. One of the most significant of those costs is the cost of legal fees and insuring health care providers against potential litigation. While it may be argued that health care standards may be lowered if malpractice litigation is limited, this argument does not take into account the self-regulating nature of the medical profession through organizations such as the American Medical Association. Lowering the costs associated with litigation would provide a stepping stone to lower health care costs universally.
