Cooperation Among Nations

Organized crime is difficult to combat for two reasons. First, it easily recruits individuals who feel alienated from the dominant culture, and encourages their discontent. Second, it is international, making it difficult to sustain prevention and prosecution efforts across borders. While the first point may be addressed at an educational level, the second requires increased cooperation among nations. Since all nations are opposed to organized criminal activity within their own borders, an alliance serving to eliminate and/or limit such activity should be welcome.
