Novel Chemotherapeutic Agents for Cancer Treatment

The invention relates to compounds having formula (15), shown below, in which R1 is H or I, R2 is a radical selected from (C1-C16)-alkyl, phenyl and benzyl, R3 is a (C2-C4)-alkyl group and the configuration of C in substituent (R2O)(R3COO)CH is R or S, which compounds have been shown to be active against a plurality of human cancerous cell lines, in particular against the cell lines of melanoma, leukemia, non-small cell lung cancer, renal cancer, ovarian cancer, colon cancer, CNS cancer, breast cancer and prostate cancer. Consequently, said compounds are promising anticancer agents for the treatment of different types of cancer.
