Cis Bicyclic Complexes of Platinum (ii) Having Anticancer Activity

The invention relates to compounds having formula (I), wherein: the broken line represents a single or double bond; X is N, O, S, or -(CH2)n-; n is an integer between 1 and 3; R1 is a radical selected independently from among (C1-C4) alkoxyl, phenoxyl, phenyl-(CH2)r-O; R2 and R'2 represent a radical selected independently from among hydrogen, hydroxyl, (C1-C4)-alkoxyl, phenoxyl, phenyl-(CH2)r-O, and O-Gp; r is an integer between 1 and 4; Gp is an alcohol protective group, whereby the radicals with benzene rings are optionally mono-, di- or tri-substituted in the benzene rings thereof with (C1-C4)-alkyl, (C1-C4)-alkoxyl and halogen; R3 and R'3 represent halogen or, taken together, represent a biradical selected from among -OCO-(CH2)m-COO-, (C3-C7)-cycloalkane-1,1-dicarboxylate, and (C3- C7)-cycloalkane-1,2-dicarboxylate; and m is an integer between 0 and 4, which compounds have been shown to be active against different cancer cell lines. Consequently, said compounds are agents that can be used to treat different types of cancer.
