Transducer for Measuring Vertical Displacements

The present invention relates to a transducer for measuring vertical displacement in civil engineering structures, such as bridges and overpasses. For that purpose, the transducer carries out hydrostatic levelling over the structure being observed, from a fixed reference position, thus enabling the relative vertical displacement over time to be determined at the various points equipped with said instrument. This transducer is based on the principle of Archimedes and is formed by an outer container (1) containing a liquid in a hydrostatic quasi-equilibrium (2) with the additional hydraulic circuit (3), said container representing the altimetric position of said body in relation to the remaining circuit.; A partially immersed mass (6) is coupled by means of a load cell (4) provided with extensiometric sensors (5), allowing the liquid level to be transformed into a force (apparent weight of the body (6)) that can be measured by the load cell (4) in the signal from the extensiometric sensors.
