The present invention is a method for isolating bioactive molecules secreted by probiotic bacteria such as Lactobacillus rhamnosus, and methods for using such bioactive molecules to decrease replication of human immunodeficiency virus, expression of inflammatory cytokines and chemokines, expression of vasoendothelial growth factor, Erkl/Erk2 activation, and to inhibit HIV transmission.
