Improvements in Or Relating to Footwear

The application provides a shoe comprising a solepiece having a ground engaging bottom surface and a top surface on which a wearer's foot is received, wherein the solepiece has differential resistance to longitudinal flexing in a direction along or parallel to at least part of the length of the metatarsal break of the wearers foot, and wherein either:; (i) the resistance to longitudinal flexing is relatively lower at the lateral side of the metatarsal break and relatively higher at the medial side of the metatarsal break, (ii) the resistance to longitudinal flexing is relatively lower when the wearers speed of motion relative to the ground is below a predetermined speed and relatively higher when the wearers speed of motion relative to the ground is at or above the predetermined speed, or (iii) the resistance to longitudinal flexing has a first value at the lateral side of the metatarsal break and a second value which is higher than the first value at the medial side of the metatarsal break, when the wearers speed of motion relative to the ground is below a predetermined speed,; and the resistance to longitudinal flexing at the lateral side of the metatarsal break has a third value which is higher than the first value and has a fourth value which is higher than the second value at the medial side of the metatarsal break, when the wearers speed of motion relative to the ground is greater than a predetermined speed.
