Description:
In order to achieve the transformational nuclear designs desired, advances in scientific computing are needed to create models that can simulate the interactions of the ‘entire system’ with higher accuracy: from the reactor core, heat transfer and flow of fluids, to the radiation effects on materials, environmental conditions, and other factors. These would involve innovations in ‘information technology infrastructures’ such as hardware, operating systems, and software applications. Moreover, new research on data management and analysis tools; mathematical models and algorithms are required.
