Have you got a brilliant idea that could help major food companies such as Mars, General MIlls and Tesco overcome their business challenges?

If so, you’ll have an opportunity to grab their attention at the 5th Food & FMCG Innovation Pitching Event.

This open innovation gathering is taking place on November 23 at Food Matters Live, a trade fair and conference at ExCel in London.  It will involve some of the biggest names in the food industry.

Anyone can take part – individuals, research centers and companies of all sizes and maturity from the UK and anywhere else in the word.

Upto 15 teams and/or individuals will be invited to pitch their ideas to decision makers and innovation scouts from several food and fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) companies.  Among the organizations who will be represented are: General Mills, Crown, Mars, Domino, Tesco, Heineken, PepsiCo and Just Design.  For the full list, click here.

Ideas must fall within one of the following categories:

  • IT/electronics – including communications and smart packaging
  • Life sciences – including ingredients, food safety, preservatives and synthetic biology
  • Manufacturing – including novel food processing
  • Marketing and business models – including social media and new business models
  • Materials – including packaging materials and waste reduction

The event is being organized by the Open Innovation (OI) Forum, a membership group where members participate in open innovation collaborations and explore hot topics related to the food industry.

The deadline for requesting a pitch is October 31, 2016.  For more details and to enter the open innovation competition, go to this page.
