The Department of Transport (DfT) in the United Kingdom has bold plans to reduce traffic build-up and air pollution. It will soon publish reams of data surrounding planned roadworks, allowing navigation apps with artificial intelligence to predict traffic jams up to months in advance and provide motorists with alternative routes. This should save them a lot of time and money.

After a botched attempt at docking, a new Russian humanoid robot has arrived at the International Space Station. It was the only crew member of a Soyuz rocket that blasted into orbit on August 22nd. The robot arrived on August 26 and will stay for ten days during which time it will learn tasks performed by astronauts.

The United States Navy is calling on industry to help it construct a fleet of ten robot warships in the next five years to patrol dangerous waters. They will build on the unmanned Sea Hunter, seen in this photo. The huge ships are referred to as Large Unmanned Surface Vehicles (LUSVs) and would carry out what is called 3D work.
