$250,000 on Offer at the World’s First Crowdfunding Festival

January 24, 2013 By IdeaConnection

one_spark_logo.largeFor five days in April, Jacksonville, Florida will be the focus of innovation, inspiration and creativity as artists, entrepreneurs, and innovators from all over the world showcase their best and brightest ideas.

The event is One Spark, the world’s first crowdfunding festival, a live and fully interactive experience that enables attendees to support brilliant ideas that inspire them. And it’s open to all.

“One Spark started with the belief that game-changers emerge from dorm rooms, garages and small studios – where great ideas develop,” said Elton Rivas, One Spark’s co-founder and executive director.

“One Spark 2013 will be the point when creators of all kinds converge in our community, and when people from far and wide join together to decide on the next big thing(s).”

Creators will be able to demonstrate their ideas and interact with the public at more than 65 venues in a 1.5 mile radius. These are events that the organizers are calling “spectacles”.

During the crowdfunding festival the public will vote on the projects they like best, and the most popular will receive a cut of the $250,000 guaranteed crowdfund.

To register as a creator visit BeOneSpark.com, where’ll you’ll also find plenty of information about the festival. The deadline for registration is February 22nd.

One Spark is a not-for-profit organisation that works to create an environment of innovation. It was founded to connect ideas with resources.

More Money

According to a recent press release Shad Khan, owner of the Jacksonville Jaguars and automobile parts manufacturer Flex-N-Gate, will partner with One Spark to offer the potential of up to $1 million in capital investment for creators at the event.

This should be a very cool event!

In this regard, and in regard to IdeaConnection as a whole, I thought that I would share some really fascinating and powerful research that has emerged in the domain very recently. I came across it from some comments over at Wired. I think that maybe it would be useful for your research area of the site too. It's called "The Theory of Crowd Capital" and you can download it here:
