January 16, 2013 By IdeaConnection

Dunder Mufflin Super Bowl adViewers of NBC’s hit show “The Office” will be familiar with Dunder Mifflin the fictional paper products company that the mockumentary is based on.

Well, it’s also now a real paper product, the fruits of a partnership between NBC Universal and paper company Quill.

To promote the product and bring it to a wider audience the Dunder Mifflin brand has a Super Bowl ad spot. And that’s where you come in.

Written proposals or video pitches for the ad are now being accepted. They can include storyboards, concept photos, script summaries and camera tests. For more details about how you could get your big ideas up on the big screen for the big game, click here.

Pitches that make it through to consideration will win $1,000, whilst the top three winning ideas will earn $15,000, $6,000, and $2,000.

Hints for Pitches

The crowdsourcing contest’s organizers are keen to point out that as “The Office” is a comedy program and Super Bowl ads also feature humor, concepts based on uncomfortable humor might be the best place to start.

In addition:

  • Dunder Mifflin products should be the key focus and their flagship paper product must appear at least once in the commercial.
  • Documentary-style interviews should be avoided less they be confused with the program.
  • The producers of “The Office” will be reviewing entries.

The project is a collaboration between Dunder Mifflin and crowdsourcing platform Tonga, and the closing date for submissions is 12:30:00 a.m. Pacific Time on January 28th, 2013.
