Crowdsourcing Ideas to Improve India’s Rail Journeys
FM radios and bio-toilets are just some of the features that could soon be a part of the travel experience on India’s railways.
The country’s government recently held a crowdsourcing exercise for new ideas to make train travel more enjoyable for both drivers and passengers. And it has announced that some of those ideas could be implemented soon.
The crowdsourcing project was hosted on the MyGov platform throughout January, and during that time about 2,500 submissions were made by citizens. The result of all this activity is that a small number of suggestions have been selected to be a part of the rail budget for 2016.
Full Steam Ahead
The government is already swinging into action, making an announcement that it plans to invite FM radio stations to provide entertainment by installing public address systems in trains.
Other suggestions that have made their way on to the budget are:
- GPS and GIS systems aboard trains for real-time updates and safety
- Local cuisines to be served to passengers at different stations
- A mobile app for grievances and complaints against Indian Railways
- A train with fully unreserved coaches (many citizens have complained about a lack of such coaches)
- Introduction of bio-toilets for train drivers
- Special training courses for railway staff
- Equipping drivers with walkie-talkie sets
- Involving startups in railway innovation
Furthermore, the Hon. Minister for Railways, Shri Suresh Prabhu, gave a speech to the Indian Parliament, announcing the implementation of the winning ideas.

Design for toilet in Train:-
In looking to the present design of toilet in the Train, maximum mud cited on platform. In the new design, toilet mud should be shifted to inside of platform under pipeline automatically , then it should be shifted away where we want through pipeline. For development of this new design, minor addition and changes in train and platform are required. I imagine new design described above which helpful to INDIAN RAILWAY.

coaches should have automatic door system, so that the chain pulling will be ano longer issues and also the theft and the safety of the passengers and the staff of the train.
