How the Crowd Can Help You Avoid Excursion Disappointment

December 27, 2012 By IdeaConnection

You know the score with best laid plans and all that. They can be ruined by bad weather, misinformation or lack of details.

You turn up to a countryside picnic only to be soaked through by a rain spell, visit a restaurant to find it closed, or head out to some event and discover that it’s been cancelled.

Koozoo is a website that’s hoping to put an end to such excursion blues by creating a network of live video feeds so anyone can check out locations before they close their front door.

The site wants to aggregate the power of individuals’ smartphones by getting people to use their old phones as webcams and point them at their neighborhood.

All users have to do is visit Koozoo’s website, download the software and instantly a phone can broadcast the view from wherever it is pointed.

Some people may feel that Big Brother really is watching them.  The site’s owners understand the privacy concerns, but believe Koozoo offers benefits for everybody.

Window on the World

Currently, Koozoo is in private beta testing, but all being well the plan is to launch in San Francisco in early 2013.

To take part in the beta test just send a photo from your home or office window to the email address on Koozoo’s main webpage. If the team like what they see, they’ll invite you to participate.

The ambition is that one day users will be able to pick any spot in the world and find out what’s going in real time.
