Using the Crowd to Get a Better View at Public Events

800px-Osaka_Dome_by_MASA2So there you are at a baseball match, music concert or wedding.  You’re holding your smartphone high in the air to video the proceedings.  But you may not necessarily have the best view and your camera work is a little wobbly.  If you’re sitting at the back your chances of getting great close-ups of the action are low.

A new free video app can remedy these difficulties.  Krowds lets you check out the video feeds of others who are attending the same event as you.

Andres Espineira, the CEO of Pixorial, which developed Krowds said in an interview, “The idea with Krowds is to bring the power of crowdsourcing to video.”

How it Works

Once you have registered you open the app and create an event.  Then you start filming within the app. Now, let’s say you miss a pivotal moment in a sport game or want to get a better view of a singer.

No problems, the app uses your smartphone’s GPS to inform you of other “krowd” users nearby. You can then check out their shots.  This is particularly useful if someone’s in the front row.

Create a Video with the Wow Factor

Your experience can be enhanced by having access to multiple cameras at an event.  The footage can also be saved in a central space, allowing you access to the best shots if you want to create a video that covers several points of view. There are no limits on the amount of video or its duration.
