November 11, 2015 By IdeaConnection

Nokia_logo-4Congratulations to the winners of the latest Nokia Open Innovation Challenge.

The multinational communications company has been handing out gongs to the top 10 innovators of the 2015 iteration of the contest.

This was Nokia’s third consecutive Open Innovation Challenge and it drew a healthy response from innovators from all over the world.  They were tasked with collaborating “on game-changing ideas to shape the programmable world”.

The judging panel whittled down the hundreds of submissions to 10 winners, who hailed from Canada, Finland, Germany, Greece, Ireland and the U.S.  They will be offered the chance to work with Nokia on what the communications giant hopes will be disruptive ideas.

Among the winning innovators were:

CyberLightning – a company that develops software that can create 3D visualizations of IoT (Internet of Things) data, making it easier to study big data captured by sensor networks.

HealthOperator Ltd – offers sensor and artificial intelligence based personalized monitoring and diagnostic services to the public sector, consumers and private healthcare companies.

Wirepas – creates wireless networks of interconnected devices without the need for investments to infrastructure.

Why Nokia Hearts Open Innovation

Upon announcement of the winners, Hossein Moiin, Executive Vice President and CTO, Nokia Networks reiterated the company’s reasons for investing in open innovation:

“We understand that Nokia and others cannot do it alone. We need to think outside the walls of our innovation machinery and reach into the IoT ecosystem for partnerships and co-creation. By incorporating innovations from all around us, we can build a programmable world that will benefit us all.”
