Open Innovation Help for Electricity Transmission Companies

February 20, 2019 By IdeaConnection

Elia Open Innovation ChallengeEuropean-based Elia Group is calling for ideas from start-ups across the world to help improve the day-to-day operations of its two electricity transmission companies.

The group's third open innovation contest is seeking ideas that use the latest technologies such as artificial intelligence, augmented reality and the internet of things.

Elia expects that introducing new technologies will allow its transmission system operators (one in Belgium, one in Germany) to improve the use and maintenance of their assets in numerous ways.

“Elia Group is constantly on the look-out for new innovative ideas to improve our day-to-day business,” said Johan Maricq, Innovation Project Leader at Elia Group.

“To achieve this, we need to join forces and create strong common ecosystems. Companies from different sectors can help us with new solutions and different approaches to our daily challenges on the field.  This is why we are reaching out to innovative start-ups and SMEs.”

Prize Money and Pilot Project

The competition winner will receive a 20,000 Euro prize (approx. USD $22,600 ) and will implement the solution within the company.

Applications are welcome now and the pre-selection phase will take place between April 20 and May 1. The selection of five finalists will be made on June 1. They will then have two weeks to prepare their final presentation.
