Although biogas composition varies based upon the raw material, the two primary components are methane and carbon dioxide. Nitrogen, hydrogen, hydrogen sulphide, and oxygen are also found but in lesser quantities. Due to the presence of greenhouse gases, it is undesirable to release biogas directly into the environment. Furthermore, the conversion of biogas into heat, electricity, and fuel helps decrease our planet’s reliance on fossil fuels. To advance its commitment to produce dairy nutrition in a sustainable manner, Fonterra is interested in finding the best ways to utilise biogas effectively.
