Gabriel Prize 2019 Deadline: 2019-01-14
Award: $20,000
Open to: US Citizens*

The Western European Architecture Foundation is pleased to announce the twenty-ninth annual Gabriel Prize competition. Founded by architecture patron George Parker Jr. in 1991, the Gabriel Prize allows architects to develop and challenge their thinking and drawing skills.

The program flourished from Parker's concern with students lack of interest in historic architecture and the diminishing ability to draw by hand.

The prize is awarded to a jury selected applicant in accordance with requirements intended to provoke personal, critical responses to architectural compositions in France built between 1630 and 1930.

Such interpretative studies are to be graphically recorded in freehand sketches and presented in perspective drawings reflecting the skill of the winner.
