Interior car lights have evolved dramatically over the decades, from a few lighting spots with limited functions to what we have today: functional and ambient lighting in the car interior which allows passengers to be informed, communicate, etc.

Lighting technology has evolved hand-in-hand with the use of car interior lighting. Usually, the lighting source are thermal radiators, which means that the hotter the source, the brighter the light.

Light-emitting diodes (LEDs) are increasingly used in automotive lighting because of their long working life, extreme resistance to vibration and their small size. LEDs are low-consumption and reach their brightest point ¼ of a second faster than traditional light bulbs.

OLED and laser lights are more advanced lighting systems, and their introduction for both interior and exterior lighting is increasing every day.
