Reduction, Elimination or Irreversible Inactivation of Aflatoxins from Protein Milk Deadline: 2019-04-01
Award: $20,000
Open to: Everyone*

Aflatoxins (Afla) are a family of fungal metabolites that are found in corn and remain as impurities in the final products of a starch biorefinery. For many years, removing these impurities remains a challenge in the industry, with many attempts that have fallen short due to different reasons: lack of efficiency, economically unattractive, or impact on the products or co-products quality. Therefore, successful implementation in industrial scale of technologies to tackle Afla has yet to happen.

This Challenge is seeking for solutions that can reduce, eliminate or inactivate Aflatoxins in protein milk, a specific product of the starch biorefinery process.

This is a Theoretical Challenge that requires only a written proposal to be submitted. The Challenge award will be contingent upon theoretical evaluation of the proposal by the Seeker.
